Why we love Thornbury

thornburyresized2016 will be my 10 year anniversary of moving to Thornbury.  My reasons for coming to Thornbury were family related, wanting a small and friendly town with good schools.  It certainly is that and also provides almost everything we need for day to day living – fantastic restaurants, ooodles of coffee shops, a good leisure centre, many sports clubs and even a castle. However, what has struck me over the past couple of years is the sheer number of entrepreneurs in the local area.  The team at Laura Hunter Design have been in the fortunate position to have been involved with many of these local Thornbury companies, some are already established businesses and others are start ups, but all have provided us with an exciting opportunity to work alongside them.  All the companies offer great products or services and more often or not I have ended up becoming a customer myself, and well as a supplier.

One company I have frequently used is the Bristol Babysitting Agency run by Sue Cannings.  I don’t have family living locally and don’t always feel comfortable asking friends to look after my children, especially when it is not always possible to return the favour.  By being a member of Bristol Babysitting Agency I know Sue will have access to a group personally vetted sitters who she will match to my family.  Usually I would naturally feel nervous inviting a stranger into my house, but the sitters that Sue has on her books are, more often than not, Mums like me and completely trustworthy.  If you live in the Bristol area and, like me, struggle to find a babysitter, especially at short notice, then I would recommend contacting Sue at bristolbabysitting.co.uk
